I finally finished the first draft of the book. It took longer than the 4 weeks I had planned, but it’s finally done.

And it feels amazing 🙂

I send out the complete first draft with the announcement of this post (signup here if you didn’t get it) and I shared it with the launch team on Facebook. I’m looking forward to getting your opinion on it.

More than 70 Hibernate Tips

I started with more than 100 ideas for Hibernate Tips. But while I wrote them, I recognized that some of them didn’t fit and that it would be better to combine some others into one. In the end, I ended up with more than 70 Tips, and I might decide to add or remove a few based on reader feedback in the next 2 weeks. So, please let me know if you think anything is missing in the book.

What’s next

As I said last week, there are always more than one task you need to work on if you want to write and publish a book in just a couple of months. Right now, these are the cover, lots of launch preparations and proofreading.

2 things are missing to get a cover: the title of the book and a designer.
I still didn’t make a decision about the title. I have a few candidates that I will share with the email list and the Facebook group tomorrow. I think I found my favorite title, but I want to hear which one you like the best. But more about that tomorrow.

The launch preparations are the second big topic. I reached out to several people in the last week, and some of you joined the launch team on Facebook. Thank you for that. It really means a lot to me that you like the book and that you want to help me with the launch.
The main goal will be to spread the word about it during the launch week and the week after. The more people know about it, the better. So, if you like to help me with a shout out on social media or even better, with a short and honest review on Amazon or your blog, please join the Facebook group and let me know.

The third task for the next 1-2 weeks will be proofreading and improving the book based on reader feedback. If you have any comments, please let me know. It’s just a first draft, so there are probably several things to improve.
As soon as that is done, I will send the book to a copy editor to make sure there are no grammar or spelling mistakes. Or at least not too many of them.

These are the main tasks for the next few weeks, and I think they will keep me pretty busy. So, even after finishing the first draft, it doesn’t get any better.
